This October, the Royal Albatross team is inviting a party of ghouls onboard their dog-friendly cruise ship. Following the success of their previous Halloween event, Peter Pela, CEO and owner of Royal Albatross, announced their desire to “spice things up”.
As such, get ready for a frightening evening out, packed with ghosts and goblins as you set sail on their “Howl-loween – The Barkest Night” cruise. Running from 27th to 31st October, watch as the luxury cruise ship transforms itself into a tattered, run-down version of its past self. Paw-rents (and their pups!) are also invited to dress up for this special event. Best dressed guests are eligible to win prizes worth over $200!
The theme for this year revolves around the mysterious waters of the “Sentosa Triangle”. As such the ship’s route will take you through the Sentosa coastline. A gourmet 3-course dinner will be served. You can opt to upgrade to a 6-course dinner at $50+++ per pax. Dog meals are prepared by their official partner, BOM BOM Catering. As quoted by Raphael Lim, their Head of Marketing, dinners will be served with a “dark twist”. What that is, is up to you to find out!
Tickets are SRV (Singapore Rediscovery Voucher) eligible.
You can also quote ‘PAWJOURR10’ for an additional 10% off.
P.S Ask the crew “Where’s the ghost?” for a special surprise ?
A dog run refers to a fenced up area where dogs are kept within a safe confined space and off the leash to get their daily exercise and to socialise with other dogs and dog owners.
Most of the time, dog runs are seen as a social space for both dogs and their owners. Dogs can run, interact and play off-leash with other dogs while being safely contained and segregated from other people enjoying the park.
As it is a requirement by law for owners to leash up dogs in Singapore’s public spaces, dog runs help to provide open outdoor spaces for cooped-up apartment dwelling dogs to have the freedom they need to run and have fun.
Dog runs are managed by different agencies and one of them is the National Parks Board (NParks). Dog runs -managed by NParks- are usually situated within parks. They consist of turfed lawns, which provide a more natural environment for dogs to explore a variety of textures and spaces.
Dogs need to stay active, exercise and release pent up energy. Active dogs will stay in shape, experience less anxiety and depression and have overall better physical and mental well beings with outdoor stimulation.
Visiting a Dog Run
You can now visit any of NParks’ 15 dog runs located all throughout Singapore in the parks. There are also, other public dog runs that are situated in HDB spaces and on state land as well as private dog runs managed by private entities across the island.
Larger NParks dog runs are situated at West Coast Park, Bishan – Ang Mo Kio Park, Jurong Lake Gardens and East Coast Park. They are extremely popular with dog owners and are well used throughout the day. Many dog owners come all the way across the island to use these dog runs.
The dog runs have also developed into a common meeting space for dog owners of all backgrounds and interests.
For Non-Pet Owners
Non-pet owners can certainly visit the dog run, however, we would advise them to exercise caution and be aware of the Do’s and Don’ts in the dog run. Non-pet owners must first be comfortable with the presence of dogs that may come in various sizes, breeds and behaviours. Being able to recognise and watch out for certain behaviours of dogs will be important to mitigate the potential issues in a dog run. Always ask the owner for permission before approaching an unknown dog.
Bringing in human or dog food into the dog run is also discouraged. Dogs may get attracted by the food and start to crowd around the visitor. This can lead to instances of dogs behaving aggressively in order to get to the food and owners may not be around in time to control their dogs.
Visitors should avoid approaching nor presenting any food to dogs without prior consent from their owners. Interaction with dogs should not be forced upon the dogs, especially those that may seem fearful or aggressive.
Visitors should also avoid bringing their young children into dog runs to play with the dogs. Even if under parental supervision, dogs may accidentally injure young children through play.
In short, although you may still enter, we would still advise and highly discourage non-pet owners from entering the dog runs. It would be wiser to leave the space for dogs and dog owners who need it. As an alternative, non-pet owners can observe the dogs from the outside instead.
Mantaining a Dog Run
Dog runs are usually maintained through frequent grass cutting, cleansing of the dog run area and emptying of bins. This is to ensure that all visitors (dogs and their humans) have a safe and clean space for exercising and socialising.
Sufficient shaded resting and seating spaces are also made available when possible.
Now that you know what a dog run is, it’s time to explore!
Studio Kinu offers one of a kind shots with their cosy picturesque backdrops– meant to mimic the comfort and ease of your daily home.
Though their speciality appears to be family photos, their clientele reaches far and wide: On their portfolio, they showcase engagement pictures, pregnancy shoots, and most surprisingly, pets!
We interviewed MK, Studio Kinu’s founder, and main photographer to find out more about their business. We also reached out to you! (Pawjourr community) for some questions.
Interview with MK of Studio Kinu
@promisethedoggie: What inspired you to start this business?
I started my photography journey as a wedding photographer when I was 18. I truly enjoy photographing my clients and it means so much to me that they’d entrust me to capture their big day. However, as most wedding ceremonies are often held over the weekends, it meant that taking more jobs = burning away my weekends.
After meeting my life partner and having our dogs, weekends are so much more precious to me. I started to think of ways that I can still do what I am passionate about, while at the same time spending time with my loved ones. Thus, the idea of a studio came to life! People and animals are the inspiration for the name of our studio – KINU, a mashup of KIN (relationships) + INU (dogs).
Indeed, the photos produced at Studio Kinu do bring out the best in our relationships. In fact, they appear to carry a strong aura of nostalgia and family. Perhaps it is the bright cool-toned temperature of their pictures that appear as though it has been pulled out of your memory or all too familiar sofa sets that you can find in your grandparent’s home; Studio Kinu’s photoshoots emphasise on capturing the smiles you share with the people you love.
As mentioned, their photos are not constrained to the human business, as they offer photoshoot packages that accommodate your pets as well. That way you can capture precious moments shared with your animals too!
Jane, Tay and Oolong had such great fun at Studio Kinu. Oolong posed well for the camera, all thanks to the accommodating nature of the studio!
Accommodating Your Pets
@zorro_tales and @theobislife: How does your studio work to accommodate the needs of our pets?
Before the photoshoot, we usually communicate with the owners to let their pets pee and poop before coming up. We take some time to let the pets familiarise themselves with us, and when the photoshoot starts, we have squeakers and treats to help capture the attention of your pet!
@nickyfats: Do you have photoshoot opportunities for cats too?
Yes of course! We have done photoshoots for cats and even rabbits before too! All sessions welcome cats!
Pricing
Excited? So are we! We also began inquiring about the packages Studio Kinu had in store.
@mimi_de_corgi: Do you have any trial packages?
Our mini sessions are the perfect trial packages for anyone who is keen to try out studio photoshoots! It is a short 20 mins session, perfect for those with young babies or a family with grandparents and daddies that aren’t as keen to be in photos.
@harley.pomsky1008: Do they have outdoor and indoor packages?
Yes, we do! Please check out our rate card (linked below!) which includes our studio packages, as well as outdoor packages.
@iamcookiebae: How much does it cost per photoshoot?
It depends! For studio shoots, we have 3 packages. Mini session $288, Classic session $428, Deluxe session $628. (Full rate card down below!)
@loudtwinklebaby: In lieu of the COVID-19 restrictions, how many people (and pets!) are allowed for a single photoshoot?
According to IMDA, up to 10 pax can appear in a photo unmasked and the studio can have up to 15 pax.
Graduation Shoots?
One thing that stood out the most to us is the studio’s potential for graduation photos! In lieu of the recent pandemic, many of our recent graduates are unable to attend live ceremonies to celebrate their achievements. Hence, graduate photoshoots are in high demand as it helps them commemorate this significant milestone.
The most standard graduation studio shot likely involves a green screen or a giant fake image as your backdrop. However, with Studio Kinu styled sets, your pictures will definitely stand out. However, if you do prefer solid colour backdrops- this option is still available!
Quote ‘PAWJOURR15’ when booking for 15% discount on both indoor and outdoor shoots.

Support your local pet-friendly businesses during Phase 2!
The dog-loving coffee making people over at @bellysbrew has recently rebranded and opened up a cafe – named TWO X FOUR.
Inspired by the success of their home-based business, cultivated by their desire to provide good causes for dogs– the owners of TWO X FOUR have worked hard to ensure the comfort of you and your pets here at their exciting new cafe.
Located at 2 Pandan Valley, Acacia Court #01-210 S(597626), the cafe boasts an attractive and bright storefront. It’s definitely not hard to miss!
The air-conditioned 2-level cafe is designed to best accommodate you and your pups. While dining in, you can even enjoy a great view from the cafe’s second floor. Plus, the cafe’s stylish use of metal hardware and wood provides a cozy urban chic interior that will definitely feature nicely in any social media post.
Most notably, their feature wall is an excellent photo-taking spot for your dogs. Uplift and cheer up your pet’s mood by having them “fly”!
Unfortunately, due to Phase 2, TWO X FOUR is no longer accepting dine-ins. However, they are now offering their services through deliveries and takeaways! They have retained most of their original menu, making sure to provide options for both humans and dogs. We took a look at some of their enticing offerings. Do give them a try!
For the human menu: They are offering their Chef’s special Fish and Chips ($14.90), along with Creamy Carbonara ($12.90), Ah Long’s Chick ‘n’ Chop ($13.90) and Seafood Aglio Olio ($14.90). Do take note that this list is not exhaustive.
We were most impressed with their Seafood Aglio Olio which featured two large mussels, squid rings and prawns. We could barely see our noodles amidst all that seafood-y goodness.
Their creamy carbonara is a sight to behold, as well as a feast for your stomachs.
The items on their menu are relatively inexpensive. All range less than $20, making them an excellent choice for the days when you feel like splurging, yet desire to eat luxuriously. As a special treat, they are also offering 20% off all food items and 10% off all drinks from 19 May to 13 June.
That’s not all! As a dog-friendly restaurant, they have also worked hard to provide a menu for dogs. Our office doggos, Dexter and Oolong, were given a chance to try their scrumptious variety.
We received their Bobby’s Signature Meatballs 5pcs ($5.90), Daisy’s Signature Meatballs 5pcs ($5.90) and Shepherd’s Pie 180g ($6.50). You can view the full list of ingredients and menu items down below. Each item of the menu has been accessed and made suitable for your furkids to enjoy!
The presentation and look of these doggy meals had Dexter and Oolong drooling with anticipation.
Bobby’s Signature Meatballs is made out of grass-fed ground beef, plain and all-natural yoghurt, egg and flour. Each meatball was perfectly portioned into bite-sized pieces that were easy for Oolong to consume.
Oolong enjoyed Bobby’s Signature Meatballs
On the other hand, Dexter opted to try the Shepherd’s Pie which is made out of sweet potato, pumpkin, carrot, broccoli and ground pork.
For their doggy meals, you can also opt to add in coconut oil or honey for that extra Oomph!
Besides offering meals, they also have a selection of doggy desserts such as Salmon Egg Tart and Frozen Fresh Fruit Treats.
Dexter enjoyed the Shepherd’s Pie
Yum! For a small dog, he certainly ate his weight in pork and potatoes!
You can get both human and dog menu items delivered by placing an order online or via their Facebook account. You can also check out the full list of offerings through their social media accounts.
Treat paw-selves! Try out TWO X FOUR’s food and do your part to #supportlocal during these difficult times.

If you have seen the Oscar-winning movie, Parasite (2019), you must have heard of art therapy.
Making its rounds on social media, Art therapy has been lauded for its ability to help people to explore self-awareness and stress management. It can also boost one’s confidence and social skills. To testify for the ever-growing demand for art therapy, many seek out art-jamming sessions worldwide to have a taste of this therapeutic and invigorating activity!
Art Jamming refers to the act of making art together in a group. This activity emphasises unleashing the creative potential of individuals. An art jamming session may encourage one to reflect on their creative energies.
To further enhance one’s experience within an art jamming session, Amanda Cho of Wildflower Studios invites her cats to hang out and attend to participants in the studio. She refers to these as her Cat-Art jamming sessions.
We reached out to discuss her innovative studio, and to find out more about the added benefits of engaging in art therapy alongside a fluffy feline friend.
What inspired you to start Cat-Art Jamming sessions?
Amanda: I had always loved the idea of having a studio space as I enjoy art. I thought about the combination of art+cats would be a creative and popular idea and decided to give it a go!
At Wildflower Studio, participants are encouraged to interact with Amanda’s four beautiful cats, Sundae, Saffron, Mel, and Soba.
How do the cats participate in these sessions?
Amanda: Our sessions start off with about 15 minutes of cat interaction which include introductions and opportunities to feed cats their favourite treats.
After the cats are fed, they start to groom themselves. We position their favourite spots around the participants- Saffron likes her hammock, Mel likes the floor, Soba likes to be in the side table nook and Sundae likes the kitchen counter.
The cats are very comfortable with humans and normally hang around the participants. Much to our participants’ delight, the cats will typically approach humans without being forced to or enticed by food.
Believe it or not, but encouraging participants to interact with cats is a great way to further enhance one’s self-confidence. Being able to successfully connect with a feline friend is a guaranteed way to feel better about yourself.
As a pet owner myself, I can guarantee that nothing feels better than hanging out with a fluffy animal!
Housed within her own home, Wildflower Studio boasts an organic and cosy atmosphere. It also showcases lots of natural wood in its interior. It’s hard not to feel at home when you step inside.
This also allows her cats to feel more at ease with the environment around them.
The ambience of your studio seems so comforting. How have you managed the interior space of your studio to accommodate both your participants and your cats?
Amanda: My studio space is housed within my home and the interior has been designed to look a bit like a cafe. It wasn’t designed with the intention to run an art studio though haha… that idea came much later.
We clear our sofa and carpet to the side so there is space for the easels and participants to walk and sit comfortably while taking into consideration the prevailing safe management measures.
Our cats are already in a space that they are familiar with so they don’t have any issues adapting to the environment. It seems that the cats look forward to our art jamming sessions as they will hang out around the studio set up prior to each session.
Currently, a 2-hour cat-art jamming session at Wildflower Studios retails at $35 for both adults and children. Session extensions are also available for $8 every half an hour thereafter.
What can participants expect from a session?
Amanda: A cosy and chill session doing art in the company of 4 friendly cats… nice drinks with light acoustic music playing in the background and friendly hosts!
Many adults tend to feel afraid to attempt an art piece they like but I always encourage them to try and trust the process. I am always around to guide them or help them along with their artwork!
Wildflower Studio has an average 5-star rating across 38 Google reviews. Most of Amanda’s clients praise her warm hospitality and guidance. In one such review, a participant also equates the encounter as similar to visiting a friend!
You can find more information about Wildflower Studios on their website. They also offer pricing plans for those interested in attending multiple sessions.
Kicking off towards the end of April, Singapore’s shores will be playing host to Royal Albatross’s Dog Cruise, a luxury cruise catered specifically for our furry friends! This event will take pet owners and their furkids on a voyage through the straits of Singapore, with a wide variety of activities planned for them to engage in. The highlight of the evening is a sunset dinner for both humans and pets alike to enjoy!
An extension of their famous “Sunset Dinner Cruise”, the Dog Cruise looks to give pawrents a night out for them to enjoy with their pets. The cruise is packed with activities that both you and your pet can enjoy (along with surprise goodies for your pup)!
For those of you without pets, fear not! You can still sign up for the cruise and witness all the beautiful furbabies out and about.

In order to truly elevate the dining experience, Dog Cruise has worked hard to create a nutritionally balanced experience for your furkids. The food served during the 3-course gourmet dinner boasts no preservatives, so you know that your furkid is getting only the best nutrition.
Be sure to bring them with a huge appetite, it’ll be sure to knock their paws off!
To provide you with further insight into this thrilling event, we attended the Dog Cruise on Wednesday to give you a sneak peek into the activities that they offer. During the media launch, there were only small dogs onboard but fret not! The Royal Albatross is looking to organise dates in June/July to accommodate larger dogs.
Check out our interview with Jane below!
What was the boarding process like?
Jane: Smooth, fast, and orderly. Visitors are required to check-in and register at a booth. Afterward, there is a shoe station because guests are required to be bare-footed on the ship (some had bedroom slippers).
What were the safety measures set in place to ensure the safety of me and my dogs?
Jane: Safe distancing measures are in place, and there are always waiters around to help attend to the crew. Sunny Chong’s team were also stationed around the ship to help assist or resolve any potential fights between dogs.
To ensure the cruise is a safe and enjoyable experience for both hoomans and furkids, the Dog Cruise team has put precautions in place to make sure all pets are ready for the adventure of a lifetime. They’ve also teamed up with Sunny Chong Dog Training School to “interview” your pets to ensure that they’re suitable to be on the cruise. You can view their full list of policies here.
What was served to your dog during the gourmet dinner and did they enjoy it?
Jane: Dogs were served a 3-meal course prepared by BOM BOM. Guests can choose between BOM BOM’s menu or Home-cooked Food (HCF) prepared by the chefs on board if they don’t feed raw.
For the humans, we received a 3-course meal which included an appetiser, main dish, and desserts. Breads were also served beforehand and free-flow wine was available for peeps who take dining with a view seriously!

What was the ambience like?
Jane: Really great! The ship sailed around Singapore within Sentosa. The breeze and night ambience made for a romantic atmosphere. At sunset, the ship was bathed in a golden light which made it great for photo taking. The ship was also lit with candles and fairy lights, but I much prefer the sunset view.
Would you recommend this to family and friends, who have furkids?
Jane: Yes, especially since it’s SRV deductible! It is really fun and memorable to be out there in the sea with your furkids.
Overall, I do highly recommend every pet owner to attend the cruise at least once to give the experience a go. However, I do think it is important that your dog is obedient and well-trained in order to have a truly pleasant dining experience. The ship’s space is rather limited, hence it is difficult to move around much unless you have a very small dog. Your dog should also be potty trained (they have a grass patch dedicated for dogs to pee) but it is only within a designated area so accidents can happen.
It is also super important that you or your dogs are NOT seasick (I was, and it was pretty horrible); it really dilutes the experience since you feel like throwing up most of the time LOL.
Excited? So are we!
You can sign up now for the cruise via 2 packages. The $195+ package is open to both pet owners and non-pet owners alike, and is identical to the $420+ package excluding the 3-course gourmet dinner for dogs. Meanwhile, the $420+ package welcomes two adults and one furkid, and is inclusive of the 3-course gourmet dinner for dogs.
You can check out the full pricing list below.
If you’d like to keep up to date with the latest news, do follow @dogcruise.sg and @thewoofagency on Instagram. You can also take a closer look at their packages and terms and conditions by heading to their website.
We hope you and your furkid are drooling in anticipation, because we sure are.
