I’m Paulina and my dog is Donut (donut.pawfriend). Donut is currently 4 years old and a cross between a maltese and poodle (maltipoo). She’s a very high energy and outgoing girl.
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
We make sure to be extra vigilant when she’s showing symptoms. We look at how much she’s eating, how often she’s urinating or pooping. We just see her personality and if something is “off” we have her checked in order to ensure that we catch any illnesses early on.
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
Price, coverage, and reviews
Q: What eventually made you decide to get insured with Aon Happy Tail?
It covered a lot of diseases that poodles seem to get when they are older
How is the entire buying process like? How long did the entire process took?
Quick and simple, just went on to their website to purchase
Has anything changed (mentally) after getting your pet insured?
Oh yes, I feel a lot more at ease should anything go wrong. I never want the reason for Donut not to be treated to be lack of funds, I want her to get the best care as possible so I can always say I gave it my all
Why do you think people are not ready to commit to a pet insurance?
The mentality that something bad might not happen to them or the reputation that insurance companies always try to decline their claim
Any suggestion or advice to people who are still shopping around or considering pet insurance?
Our pets will inevitably get old, they will need vet care if not now, at some point in the future. We shouldn’t deprive them of proper medical care because we didn’t have the foresight to plan ahead!
Thank you for joining donut and his pawrent in this insightful journey!
Caring for our cherished pets is just as important as looking after any family member. Protecting your pet with insurance like Aon Happy Tails is a proactive way to safeguard their health and give you peace of mind.
Hi everyone – Atlas is a 2yo Pomeranian, a very vocal, active, gluttony and silly, but yet sweet and slightly timid boy. He came from Germany at 5mo and we hope to give him the best life we can afford by bringing him out on lots of outings.
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
Regular exercises (walks and swimming) and fresh food diet, as well as lots of natural supplements for skin and joint health eg omega-3, collagen, glucosamine.
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
The main factor would be our priority in the scope of coverage and ease of claims. We read up on websites comparing the different pet insurances as well as Facebook threads where other pawrents’ share their knowledge and experience (esp claims). We also visited booths at events to learn more about the insurance coverage.
Q: What eventually made you decide to get insured with Aon Happy Tail?
The main trigger was when we know of some poms getting fractured limbs from falls as well as some other furfriends having issues such as intestinal obstruction. Atlas is a very active boy. While we stop him from jumping and all, we feel that he may be quite accident-prone.
While we can take care of his health through diet and exercise, accidents can still happen, and it will come with hefty costs of surgery.
We came to know that Aon Happy Tail provides a decent surgery coverage at an affordable premium compared to other insurance plans and decided to go ahead with Aon Happy Tail.
Q: How is the entire buying process like? How long did the entire process took?
Online application, it’s pretty fuss-free and quick, just that a medical examination is required so it’s an extra vet visit.
Q: Has anything changed (mentally) after getting your pet insured?
No. Despite the coverage, the main priority is still to keep him safe. After all, going through surgery and recovery is a really painful process, for both him and us, and it’s best to avoid it.
Q: Why do you think people are not ready to commit to a pet insurance?
As far as I know, there is no pet insurance that is completely comprehensive without high premiums. It is difficult for pawrents to identify their needs and priority to commit. Plus, congenital, hereditary and existing conditions, which are the main concerns for most pawrents, are generally excluded. Frankly speaking, I hesitated as well because Atlas got diagnosed with Grade 1 Luxating Patella (which is my biggest concern) during the medical examination, and is therefore excluded from coverage. There is also a concern with the ease and transparency of claims as there are many conditions which can arguably be under exclusions.
No. Despite the coverage, the main priority is still to keep him safe. After all, going through surgery and recovery is a really painful process, for both him and us, and it’s best to avoid.
Any suggestion or advice to people who are still shopping around or considering pet insurance?
As pawrents, we should always be saving up for rainy days, with or without insurance. But personally, I still think insurance is a good idea as vet bills can be really hefty that our “rainy days savings” can be depleted. Going through illness, surgery and recovery is very psychologically draining itself. Having insurance coverage to at least cushion the financial stress will be helpful while we direct our attention to taking care of our furkids.

Hi everyone – simba was adopted when I was studying in Australia where we found him at the farm! He was 2 months old then, now he’s 9.
He’s a boy, domestic shorthair. He went to the vet a few times when he was young but now he’s all better.
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
His urinary tract issues was caused by reduced water intake. So i try all ways to make him drink more water, such as buying water fountains, stringer feeding, buying water flavouring etc.
Otherwise, I don’t feed him too much snacks, and buy only high grade food that is high in protein
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
Comprehensive coverage was the most important factor for me.
Q: What did you like most about the policy with Aon Happy Tail?
What stood out to me is that the Aon Happy Tail policy is one of the only policy providers that offer pre-existing condition coverage for my pet, which gives me peace of mind knowing that there won’t be any exclusions in case of a medical emergency.

The Paws Behind the Story: Mocha the golden heart boy!
Hi! My name is Melanie, and my family has always love dogs. Mocha is not our first but second, or maybe third pet! Our first pet was an adopted 8 years old chihuahua and she died of old age at 13 years old.
After a long break, we eventually got a handsome blue-eyes toy poodle, named Milo in 2020. It was unexpected that he was with us merely for 5 days. Milo got seizures on the day we brought him home and we had to return him because we didn’t know what to expect after that episode of seizures and also worried about future medical expenses, in case he was not a healthy dog to begin with.
We felt a void in us, but during the pandemic, the price of doggos were exorbitant! We had to put on hold our desire to go for another one immediately.
On 16.06.2022, during my son’s birthday celebration, we received a call from our contact for pet viewing. We rushed down to take a look at first of the two potential doggos. It was love at first sight with this hyperactive puppy that jumped and licked at whoever carried him. So we welcomed Mocha to our home.
Mocha is 2 years old and 4 months in July. He is our most pampered child at home. He brings so much joy and laughters to my family ;and also playing his role well as the fur therapist to those who in need of comfort and emotional support 😍
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
Miniature Poodles, like Mocha, are small balls of energy and need lots of exercise. We bring Mocha for regular exercise, 3-4 times daily short walk and do zoomies as much as he wants at the dog park!
I ensure he has a well-balanced diet, rotates his food regularly and provides with daily intake of supplements for good gut and stomach, healthy bones and joints, healthy coat and skin for overall benefits and good wellbeing! As a dog therapist, he has to stay healthy so that he doesn’t carry any germs or skin diseases when he visits the residents at the Nursing Homes or Special Needs Facilities.
Because poodles also smart dog, we always have interactive games and teach Mocha new tricks to stimulate his mind.
We acknowledge there are potential health issues with poodles, as this breed is prone to joint issues such as Luxating Patella and Hip Dysplasia. So Mocha gets his regular checkups and annual vaccination. Prevention is better than cure!
We are looking into getting a reasonably priced insurance that offers comprehensive coverage, to prepare for unexpected events and his old age.
Q: What do you look out for when considering a pet insurance?
When choosing a pet insurance, it is essential to consider the coverage options available. Common coverage includes accidents, illnesses, hereditary conditions, third party liability and funeral expenses. We should evaluate our pet’s needs and choose a plan that offers comprehensive coverage. We should carefully review the policy’s exclusions and limitations to ensure we have a policy to cover common illnesses that prone to the breed of our pets.
Make it a point to do our homework to compare premiums, deductibles, and reimbursement rates from different insurance providers to find a plan that fits our budget
Q: If you have checked out Happy Tail, what do you like the most about the policy?
I read miniature poodle like Mocha is prone to joint issues such as Luxating Patella and Hip Dysplasia. Luxating Patella sometimes called a trick knee, a condition in which the patella, or kneecap, dislocates or moves out of its normal location. Hip Dysplasia happens when a poodle’s hip joint becomes weak or deteriorates.
As an hyper and playful dog, Mocha loves to jump from bed to bed everyday; especially when he plays hide-and-seek with hoomans! He has no fear about jumping down from above a meter height place! He enjoys running fast in the dog parks and being chased by other doggos! It’s so fun to watch but at the same time we also started to develop our worries, what if he injured himself during or after the plays, worst still joint/hip issues develop at his senior age due to old injuries.
I learnt to know that AON Happy Tails® pet insurances covers a wide range of illnesses including both conditions mentioned above, as well as eye problems like cataract and glaucoma that common among poodles. Happy Tails® is also the only standalone online pet insurance in Singapore that provides lifetime coverage for pets, including specified hereditary and congenital conditions.
Hence, for dog owners who are extremely concerned about their dog’s safety, it is wise to consider to cover your pet with Happy Tails® pet insurance when they are still young and before they even being diagnosed.

Taking care of our precious pets is just as important as caring for any family member. Selecting pet insurance, especially a robust and trustworthy plan like Aon Happy Tails, is a smart move to protect your pet’s health and keep you worry-free.
Hi everyone – Vincent here with Jjigee, my 8-month-old puppy Yorkie. I had him around the start of the year and he has been the best thing that has happened to me this year thus far!
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
Leveraging on my experiences from having my first doggo (a senior Maltese), I am more aware of the common health problems that small dog breeds tend to face. I began to pay special attention to Jjigee’s dental, guts and joint health.
At an early age, I included into his diet krill and mussel oil supplements for his joints and mobility and adopted good dental hygiene habits for him (such as using a dental wipe after each meal).
For good bowel movement, I gave him probiotic bites daily. Like all dogdads and dogmoms out there, we are constantly worrying about our fur-babies’ health and diet – even if they have the healthiest concocted diet. As such, for peace of mind, I went with Happy Tails Pet Insurance – now, I sleep like a baby.
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
During my “shopping” phase, my initial considerations are (1) the reputation of the insurer, (2) premium amount, (3) co-insurance rate, (4) coverage limits, (5) policy exclusions and (6) policy term.
Q: What eventually made you decide to get insured with Aon Happy Tail?
What stood out to me is that the Aon Happy Tail policy is underwritten by Income Insurance and subject to its approval or any other additional conditions, Jjigee may be able to be insured throughout his whole lifetime, unlike the other policies in the market that imposed a maximum age limit on the insured.
Q: How is the entire buying process like? How long did the entire process took?
To be honest, it wasn’t a lengthy process for me. It took me around a week or so – the bulk of the time was for me to read and familiarise myself with the terms and conditions of the policy. Being a policyholder myself with NTUC Income, I reached out to my agent and the process is seamless. Next thing I know, Jjigee is already insured.
Q: Has anything changed (mentally) after getting your pet insured?
Well now … I sleep like a baby knowing that I will always have the safety net in relation to Jjigee’s medical health.
Q: Why do you think people are not ready to commit to a pet insurance?
I can only speak for myself, but when I had my first doggo (@pupnamedluckee) I wasn’t aware that there are pet insurances in the market. In addition, when I was researching the right policy for Jjigee, I realised that some of the insurance policies have undergone some changes in terms of their coverage, premium amount and even the insurer over the last few years. To me – that can definitely be a “push” factor.
Q: Any suggestion or advice to people who are still shopping around or considering pet insurance?
Get it when they are young!

Hello, I am Kristin, and Sunday is a miniature schnauzer turning 2 this May! 🎉🐶
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
Miniature schnauzers are prone to eye-related diseases such as cataracts 🧐 and heart-related diseases 💔. Bringing them to regular yearly check-ups 🏥 would help to detect the disease in time and receive treatment promptly.
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
When shopping around for pet insurance, our buying process revolved around three main considerations: pricing, coverage, and exclusions. We wanted a policy that offered comprehensive coverage at a reasonable price while minimizing exclusions that could potentially leave gaps in our pet’s protection.
During our research, Aon Happy Tail emerged as the best option for us. Their policy offered competitive pricing, extensive coverage for various medical expenses, and relatively few exclusions compared to other providers. This combination of factors gave us confidence that Aon Happy Tail would provide the level of protection our pet needs without breaking the bank.
Q: What eventually made you decide to get insured with Aon Happy Tail?
Firstly, their premiums were offered at the right price, especially with the No Claims Discount (NCD) feature, which incentivized responsible pet ownership by reducing premiums when there were no claims made.
Moreover, a crucial factor in our decision was the lifetime coverage provided by Aon Happy Tail. Knowing that our pet would be covered for the entirety of their life brought us peace of mind, especially considering the potential for chronic or long-term health issues that may arise.
Additionally, we found Aon Happy Tail’s co-payment terms to be reasonable, even as our dog aged. This meant that we could continue to afford necessary medical care for our pet, without facing excessively high out-of-pocket expenses as they grew older
Q: How is the entire buying process like? How long did the entire process took?
It was very simple, we went through a friend who was an insurance agent and got it underwritten within a day.
Q: Has anything changed (mentally) after getting your pet insured?
Certainly, getting my pet insured has brought about a significant mental shift.
I now feel a greater sense of security knowing that my pet is covered in the event of any medical emergencies or necessary treatments. This assurance provides a considerable relief, particularly after experiencing a situation like Sunday’s bilateral eye surgery.
Knowing that I have financial support and access to the necessary medical care for my pet alleviates a significant amount of stress and worry.
Q: Why do you think people are not ready to commit to a pet insurance?
People are not aware of the importance and the cost of medical fees should their pet need to undergo major surgery or require long-term medical care.
Q: Any suggestion or advice to people who are still shopping around or considering pet insurance?
Start Early: Consider getting pet insurance as soon as you bring your pet home. Starting early can help ensure coverage for any potential health issues that may arise.
Understand Coverage: Make sure you understand what is covered and what is not covered by the policy. Some policies may exclude pre-existing conditions or specific treatments, so read the fine print carefully.
Consider Your Pet’s Needs: Think about your pet’s breed, age, and any pre-existing conditions they may have. Some pets may be more prone to certain health issues, so choose a policy that provides adequate coverage for those potential problems.
Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask questions and clarify any doubts you may have before purchasing a policy. Understand the claims process, reimbursement procedures, and any other terms and conditions associated with the policy.
Consider Your Budget: Choose a policy that fits within your budget and provides the level of coverage you’re comfortable with. Remember that pet insurance can provide peace of mind knowing that you can afford necessary medical care for your furry friend

Hello! I’m Shirley and my furkid is Ben. My husband and I have just moved into our own home when we chanced upon Ben’s adoption post. We paid him a visit and he was so sad looking! He looked like he had given up on life and right there and then, both of us just wanted to do all we can to protect him.
We learned from the rescuer that Ben was probably an abandoned cat as he suddenly appeared in the neighbourhood. He lived for some weeks as a community cat. However, he was timid, shy and was getting bullied by the other community cats.
Thankfully, he was rescued off the streets and we were lucky enough to be chosen as adopters. Ben has now blossomed into a sweet, floofy, tam chiak cat who runs the house and has brought us so much joy.
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
As we do not know much about Ben’s background, we take all the precautions we can by ensuring that he goes for his regular vet check ups, all his vaccinations are up to date and he takes Furment Complete to maintain his immune system.
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
When selecting pet insurance, we focused on coverage, cost-effectiveness, and the simplicity of the claims process.
Q: What eventually made you decide to get insured with Aon Happy Tail?
We chose Aon Happy Tail for our pet insurance because it was the first to offer coverage for cats residing in HDBs, unlike other policies limited to condo dwellers. It was an obvious choice for us.
Q: How is the entire buying process like? How long did the entire process took?
The purchasing process was straightforward and quick. We filled out the form online and submitted the health checkup form as soon as it was ready.
Q: Has anything changed (mentally) after getting your pet insured?
Gaining insurance for Ben has brought us peace of mind. Given the high cost of veterinary care and Ben getting older, we feel relieved to be financially prepared for any unexpected medical situations.
Q: Why do you think people are not ready to commit to a pet insurance?
Many people perceive pet insurance as an extra, unnecessary cost, especially when their pets are young and healthy, not considering the unpredictability of the future. It’s wise to be proactive, just as we insure ourselves (humans) and loved ones. Pets are family too. Additionally, cat owners might not realize that cats living in HDBs can be insured too.
Q: Any suggestion or advice to people who are still shopping around or considering pet insurance?
Go for it! If you’re insured, your furkid deserves the same protection.
Veterinary expenses can rival human medical costs, and having insurance can alleviate financial stress. With insurance, you won’t have to fret about affording your pet’s care during emergencies.
Thank you for following the story of Ben and his loving owners!

We ensure Hotpot receives annual health checkups, which include comprehensive blood tests and ultrasounds, to maintain his well-being and monitor his health.
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
When exploring pet insurance options, our focus was finding a policy that offered as much coverage as possible, particularly for accidents and hospitalizations.
Q: What eventually made you decide to get insured with Aon Happy Tail?
Our decision to choose Aon Happy Tails was due to the balance of comprehensive coverage and competitive pricing they offered.
Q: How is the entire buying process like? How long did the entire process took?
The entire process of purchasing the insurance was quite efficient and swift, taking only about 1 to 2 days to complete.
Q: Has anything changed (mentally) after getting your pet insured?
Since insuring Hotpot, we are more mentally assured. Knowing that he is covered in case of any unforeseen events brings us a sense of assurance.
Q: Why do you think people are not ready to commit to a pet insurance?
I believe many people hesitate to commit to pet insurance either because they are not aware that such insurance exists or they don’t think there is a need to insure their pets.
Q: Any suggestion or advice to people who are still shopping around or considering pet insurance?
I would advise those still considering pet insurance to remember that every member of the family, including our pets, should have insurance coverage.
It’s important to recognize that medical expenses for pets can be quite substantial and often comparable to human medical bills. Securing insurance for your pets can help mitigate these costs and provide peace of mind.
