Hey Raw Feeders and Home Cooked Food owners, HEADS UP!

In the past 2 years that I’ve used the mincer, I’ve gotten many questions on the mincer I use, so let’s just one shot answer all the questions that you have!

Also, this mincer does not only mince meat and bones. You can use it to make sausages for yourself or your pet. But most importantly, you can also purchase the meat slicer component to slice or cube the meat if your pet does not want only minced food.

About the Mincer I Bought

Cost of mincer: ¥950

The combo I purchased is 套餐三 (combo 3), and it comes with three sizes of cutting die and a sausage maker kit. The material that I chose is stainless steel for extra durability. I’ve used the mincer for 2 years and it is still functioning well.

What can it Mince?

Meat? Of course!
Chicken/duck neck? Yes.
Chicken/duck feet? Yes.
Chicken/duck carcass? Yes, but you need to cut it into smaller pieces first, which I found to be too much work, so never again.
Pork bone? No.

Simply put, you can only mince boneless meat and poultry bones. The only thing I will say you have to take note of is tendons because if the tendon is very long, it does not get minced up and ends up getting caught in the machine, which will cause it to stop. So if you are mincing tendons, I suggest mixing it with other meats to make your life easier.

Duck neck goes down quickly

My number one regret: Trying to mince a whole duck. It was too much work chopping the duck into smaller pieces, so I honestly do not recommend doing it because it is really tiring, unless you have a big meat cleaver to first hack the carcass into smaller pieces. But, the mincer can indeed mince a whole duck carcass.

More mincing, and honestly minced organs always looks horrible dripping from the mincer

And when you mincer them into a big bowl, it looks like ice kachang haha!

It is soooo easy to use! Just turn on the ultrasound and hold it against your furkid‘s teeth. Compared to manual brushing, there is much less struggle and discomfort!
More importantly, you can see visible results even though we only used it for around 3 weeks.
Easy to clean, disinfect and maintain. We just wash it under running tap water with the ultrasound on to disinfect.

Visiting Singpet

In Singapore, there are limited shops and stores that I can bring my little Maltipoo, Donut to. When I saw the cute photos of pet owners being able to shop with their pup at Singpet, I knew I had to give it a visit.

Singpet is located in Dempsy Hill. One thing that I noticed immediately is that the location is a bit difficult to find. It took a while for our taxi driver to find it and there was a flight of stairs before we could get to the location.

Once we got there, pets are required to wear diapers. They sell some by the front door for about $2 each.

The store was spacious and they had a wide range of options if you wish to spoil your furkid. From luxury beds, pet carriers, premium food, and toys– I can see why it would be easy to break the bank and drain the wallet here.

Overall, it was exciting to be able to shop with my puppy. She was excited to sniff all the food around here. She was also busy selecting the right toy for herself.

They have a membership option and members get discounted prices. Though, I have not heard favorable things about their online shop- it should be worth it if their physical store is nearby.

Though prices are a bit high, the store’s pet friendly nature, helpful service and vast offerings are enough reasons for me to keep coming back.

Silicone

This post will be featuring all things silicone!

Why silicone?

High heat resistance of up to 315 degree Celsius, but in most kitchen tools, the maximum temperature stated is around 200-250 degree Celsius.
Stain resistant. Silicone is non porous, hence is does not retain odors or smells.
Suitable for use with non stick pans (Silicone utensils). It will not damage the pans when cooking, the flexibility also allows users to scrap off any bits and pieces easily off curved surfaces.
Invention of collapsible silicone products, allowing users to maximize kitchen storage space.

My mother was not a fan of anything other than wood because she think silicone is like plastic, it will melt and pose health risks.

… Until I bought silicone utensils and containers. Now she grow to like them because wooden spatulas are DISGUSTING!

They absorb smell, color and even oil over time. Try soaking your wooden utensils in hot water!

It is collapsible so it saves a lot of space. The lid is pretty air tight as well, no leaks.

The bottom part of the ice cube tray is quite soft and made of silicone, easy to pop the cubes right out.

I use this thongs for basically everything. It is my best kitchen utensil so far because it is incredibly versatile.

Used for cooking, picking food, when cutting meat, to reach into deeper part of the oven to adjust a piece of meat.

I purchased the silicone lid cover (as recommended above) to cover this bowl after feeding to prevent staining my bag.

This may not be relevant to the dog food context, but this funnel is very space efficient.

Regular funnels are so big and hard to keep, it made my cabinet messy.

Although this is small, it works as intended, just have to pour large amounts of liquid slowly.

This is my go to container for home cooked food storing! It is collapsible so it saves a lot of space. The lid is pretty air tight as well, no leaks. Silicone are lightweight, able to withstand extreme variations of temperatures, non toxic and the list goes on. A must have product!

I am not a fan of plastic waste and prepping home cooked food takes up a lot of freezer space, this is compact and reusable.
Very thick and good quality, also suitable for raw feeders to store bones!

This is soft, comfortable to sleep in and wide enough to prevent fur-kids from licking/scratching their wounds.

Paw shaver

I shave Truffle’s paws every 1-2 weeks using this, the sound is not very loud and the blades are not too sharp to the point where it will cut the paws.

It is very important that paw pads are shaved and clean to prevent skidding and bacterial growth.

My favorite scent on Truffle!

We are using the Peony dry clean spray and he always smell so good and kissable.
