Understanding Instagram Insights

Earlier this week, we gave you a small glimpse of the perks of using an Instagram Creator Account (you can read about it here). One of the big game-changers you get that personal accounts don’t get is the Insights feature. By looking at insights, creators like you will be able to identify how your followers engage with your content, which will improve your Instagram strategy.

?? Does that sound too complicated???
Well, let’s make it easy to understand!

“Reach” out to your audience effectively

In the ‘Reach’ section, you will get a good idea of how many people are looking at your posts. Your reach covers data like :

  • Impressions – How often your posts were seen (if the same person looks at it 5 times, that is also 5 impressions)
  • Account Activity – When someone visits your Profile
  • Top Posts – Posts that your followers keep going back to
  • Top Stories – Instagram Stories posts that got the most views and engagement.

Top IGTV Videos – IGTV videos that have the most views and comments

You can also see the insights for a single Instagram post too! Each image in your profile will have its own “view insights” button. These insights will show what actions users took on your profile when they see your post. If your post includes links to other sites, the insights will reflect those site visits as well!

Know how “Discovery” affects your engagement

If you’ve been using Instagram long enough, you’ll know that there are many ways for users to find your post. To name a few:

  • From your Home page
  • By visiting your profile
  • Through the Explore tab
  • By searching specific hashtags
  • By seeing posts from similar location tags

Insights on the “Discover”  tab will let you know how each post is found. It also shows how likely the post was seen by someone who has not yet followed you. Having a good amount of reach is a healthy sign that your pawpals are being spotted. ??

Story Insights are slightly different

Your Instagram Stories, as fleeting as they are, are more than just one-time videos of your pawpals doing zoomies in the park. Because of how easy it is to watch, it can end up being really effective in sharing quick content. Some data unique to Story Insights include:

  • Taps Forward / Taps Back – The number of times your story gets skipped to your next one, or tapped to show your previous story
  • Replies – How many times someone starts a conversation by replying to your story
  • Swipe Aways / Exits – More brutal than your taps forward, these refer to the number of times users skip your stories, either to the next account’s stories, or to go back to their home feed.

Now that you know…

Now that you know how to look at your insights, you’ll be able to come up with better strategies to reach out to other pawrents (and even collaborators!) Here are some strategies you can follow:

Tip 1: Make Content that Collaborators will like

Through insights, you will know which posts and stories get more impressions. If the insights show that your followers like a picture of your cat having an existential crisis more than one of your cat just looking at the camera, then it’s time to consider posting more comical content that shows off your pawpal’s character and personality.

Tip 2 : Scheduling your Posts

Your audience is sure to see your content at different times of the day, but your insights will reveal that they have a preferred time to browse Instagram. Once you know that, you can time your posts so that they can appear when you have the most of your followers online

Tip 3 : Include the right hashtags

It’s important to make sure that your posts aren’t just seen by your followers, but also by brands and other users that haven’t followed you. Using the “Discovery” feature, you will now understand which hashtags Instagrammers are more likely to use. From there, it is just a matter of using the right hashtags for your posts for a wider reach.

You can also use hashtag generators that can recommend the right hashtags based on your post. Just drop the photo or the post and watch the magic happen!

Training Your Cat to Walk on a Leash

This article was written by Lauretta Williams

It isn’t just dogs who can benefit from leash training. While the thought of walking your cat on a leash may seem odd, it isn’t a gimmick. Just like their canine counterparts, cats can also benefit from safe outdoor exercise, such as walks. It’s the perfect way to give them the mental stimulation and physical exercise they need, without letting them loose as an outdoor cat.

Photo by Zoë Gayah Jonker on Unsplash

Is Leash Training Right for Your Cat?

It’s important to bear in mind that not all cats will enjoy being on a leash. Walking outdoors can expose cats to unfamiliar sights, sounds and smells they might find frightening, such as dogs, cars and loud noises. If your cat is easily stressed, leash training is probably not for them. You should also never force a cat to walk on a leash – if she doesn’t like it, find alternative opportunities for outdoor exercise, such as an escape-proof pen or enclosure.

Cats who may enjoy leash training include:

  • Indoor cats. With no free reign to go out outside, it’s important to provide them with a wide variety of enrichment options to prevent stress and boredom.
  • Cats that show lots of interest in going outdoors. They may spend a lot of time gazing out of the window, or rush outside when let out.

Cats that are bored. Indoor stimulation isn’t enough for all cats. Look for signs such as overgrooming, destructive behaviour or urinating in places they shouldn’t.

How to Leash Train Your Cat

Walking a cat on a leash is very different to walking a dog. They aren’t as naturally inclined and it will likely take them longer to adjust. It’s important you use leashes and harnesses specifically designed for cats – this means no cutting corners and buying a small dog harness that your cat could slip out of. Always opt for a well-fitted cat harness.

When choosing a lead, make sure it’s a lightweight, flexible material. Cats aren’t as robust as dogs, so leather or chain style leashes could hurt them if they come into contact while walking.

Now you’ve got the right gear, here’s how to start walking with your cat:

  1. Get your cat accustomed. For the purpose of safety, it’s essential you begin your training indoors. Start gently and let your cat get used to the harness first by letting her smell and play with it. This will allow her to lose any fear of it. Once she’s accustomed, strap it on and let her wear it around the house with the leash dragging behind. This will get her used to leash tension, alongside having something strapped around her.
  1. Walk your cat indoors. Once she’s comfortable, you can begin walking her indoors. Walk a bit with her then gently try to steer her in a different direction. Use treats to reward her for changing direction, and to lure her to where you want to go. Don’t forget to reward her for walking on her own too!
  1. Go outside. When your cat seems ready, take her to the front door and try to encourage her to explore outside. Dropping treats on your doorstep can help with this. If your cat is still cautious, do not force her. Simply try again another day.

Once you are outside with your cat, make sure to bring plenty of treats and keep your walks short and sweet. Begin with only a few minutes at a time, and gradually extend your walks. However, never walk a cat longer than they want to be walked. If she seems tired or overstimulated, take her home. If you live in a city, it’s best to drive to a more rural location first to avoid spooking her with loud noises and traffic.

A word of caution: It’s important to make sure your cat doesn’t try to escape now they’ve had a taste of the outdoors. Some may wait by the door or try to bolt out as soon as it’s opened. It’s important to make it clear they can only go out when they are wearing their harness.

Alternatives to Leash Walking Your Cat

Some cats just don’t take to being walked on the leash no matter how hard you try. It’s the same with training some dogs on a dog bike leash. It’s just not in their DNA. So how can you provide your cat with safe, outdoor enrichment?

Some alternatives include:

Pet strollers

A safe way to give your feline a change of scenery and some fresh air. While some may not think it, many cats love pet strollers. They have large viewing windows and breathable mesh, so she has a clear view without the risk of overheating.

Photo by Taylor Deas-Melesh on Unsplash

Pet backpacks

Similar to strollers, but more agile. These also have large viewing windows and are made of breathable fabrics, but are best suited to more rural paths. While a pet stroller may be awkward to take around on uneven terrain, backpacks allow you to take your pet anywhere.

Catios

If your cat doesn’t like the leash but you still want him to enjoy the great outdoors, a catio can be a great option. This will be an enclosed pen in your garden for your cat to walk around freely, and is the perfect solution to keep her safe, happy and healthy.

5 tips to up your Instagram game!

Is your pet more famous than you on social media? Do you put more effort into taking pictures of your pet than you do for yourself? Is your pet’s fanbase more than just your friends and family? If the answer is yes to all three of these questions, then you probably have a pet influencer in the making.

Here at Pawjourr, we help your furkids reach new heights by collaborating with brands and causes that they love. You may even have already read our previous article about how to meet the criteria for becoming a pet influencer. However, pet ownership can be made much more enjoyable with the content you create for your loved one. Here are some tips that you can follow with your pet on Instagram:

  • Have a persona
  • Find out what everyone’s up to
  • #Feedgoals
  • Vary your stories
  • Quality over quantity

Have a persona

How do you share moments of your furbaby with the world? You can do so with a Hooman voice or your Pawpal voice. A Hooman voice is essentially you talking about your pet from your perspective. By giving your friends a look into your journey as a pet owner, other pawrents will find you more relatable and even chat with you for a playdate!

Let the world know what your furbabies are up to! Did your cat scratch the sofa? How naughty, you should talk about that! Did your birb dance to a catchy tune? Adorable! We want to see it too!

You can give your pets more personality with a Pawpal Voice. You’d pretty much be giving your fans a look into your pet’s thoughts and musings. How they interact with their hooman and the world around them. You could even try using unique or funny language styles in the captions to have more fun with the moment!

If ur pet iz derp,
play wif words.
If your pet… is slow… and listless… your posts… could reflect that… as well…

Find out what everyone’s up to

Instagram is a good way for your pawpal to make more friends. Keep exploring various activities with your pet and find what makes for a fun time for the both of you! Look at the hashtags and trends that other pawrents are doing with their pawpals and consider trying them out too. When your pet is having fun, other pawrents will want to join in. Warm up to having conversations with them and before you know it, your doggos will be out on playdates with other pawpals!

#Feedgoals

If you would like to get noticed by collaborators and brands, it is important that you are not all business. Our furbabies’ comfort and joy are paramount after all! You can always post pictures that give products and brands a shoutout, but we recommend not doing so too often. Plan a schedule for yourself, decide when you will be posting more content and use a consistent editing style for your photos (we’ll go into that later). A good mix of casual posts to product shoutouts — say, 3 casual posts for every 1 product shoutout — would make your profile more authentic and fun.

Vary your stories

Instagram Stories come in many forms like Boomerangs, Layouts, and just the simple but versatile Create function. All of these are fun ways to quickly share pictures and videos of your pawpals.

Boomerang — Create videos that make your pet look like they’re derping back and forth
Layouts — Make collages out of multiple photos and share them as either a story or a post
Create — Engage your audience through a variety of prompts and customisations

By adding various quick edits like filters, stickers, and music, your precious moments can become even prettier!

Quality over Quantity

As you have realised, our furbabies will not always be in the mood to sit around for us to take pictures of them. You won’t be able to post new content everyday. So rather than trying to flood your Instagram feed with posts every day, you could instead take more shots at one time and spread those posts over a few days and weeks.

As for the photos that you post, you could make them prettier with photo editing apps like VSCO and Snapseed. A simple snapshot of your favourite pawpal could look magical through a quick edit!

Converting To A Creator Account : What to expect

Instagram Creator Accounts are perfect for pawrents looking to make the most out of their instagram experience. If you’re looking to find out more about the relationship between your audience and the content you post, this article will bring you up to speed.

Detailed insights and analytics

Insights are pivotal to growing your presence on Instagram. By understanding how your audience feels about the content you create, you also understand what they want to see more of, and therefore better engage with them. Insights and analytics include:

  1. Overview of Reach and Impressions

This basically refers to what people have done on your profile

  1. Audience Insights

Audience insights includes the tally of accounts followed or unfollowed, the age range of your audience, where they are most likely to interact with you from geographically, and when they are most active

  1. Content Performance

The performance of your posts, Instagram Stories, and IGTVs are measured through customisable factors like Impressions, likes, comments, follows, and many others

Streamlined Messaging

To make messaging easier and less cluttered, Instagram’s Creator Accounts help to organise your messages into 3 boxes:

  1. Primary

Your Primary Inbox is the tab that you’d like to see first. It will be set for keeping in contact with people you follow or interact with often. You will want to be notified whenever they reach out to you.

  1. General

The General Inbox will be for followers interacting with you for the first time. Notifications are turned off for messages in the general tab, but you can always turn them on later.

  1. Requests

Requests are messages from accounts that you do not follow. Spam-related messages also fall into this category.

Flexibility to brand your name

Instagram Creator Accounts have the option to choose a category label that allows for other brands and companies to identify you. Many of these categories are better aligned for personal brands and influencers, rather than businesses. This way, you will be able to find something that resonates with your brand.

On the business side of things, category labels are great for classifying what you are specialised in. A brand who sees your profile will know at a glance if your values align with theirs, so it saves both your time and theirs!

Shoppable Posts

For the inner entrepreneur in you, Instagram has an easy way to turn your followers into customers. Using a function known as Instagram Shoppable posts, you can link photos of your products — or products of brand partners — to the Instagram Shop catalog. Shoppable posts are great for promoting your personal fan merchandise as they allow you to combine valuable context (e.g. size options, colour palette, etc.) without cluttering your captions, and also gives a direct route to the shop.

Now that you are more familiar with Instagram’s Creator Account functions, you will be able to make a more informed decision on setting it up. Are you ready to make the switch?

Dressing Your Furbaby For Halloween

Halloween is upon us! It’s the time of the year where our furbabies are out on the prowl, parading in spooky costumes and bamboozling us in all manner of trickery. Pawrents, we know you’re excited, we are too! So before you hurry to get their outfit, here’s what you should know:

Make.Costumes.Safe.Again

When choosing outfits for your pets, we have to make sure the costumes won’t cause any harm to them. Avoid tight-fitting costumes as it might make it difficult for them to breathe. For pawpals on the fluffy side, that also includes costumes that are too thick or have many layers. Animals have a layer of fur to insulate themselves and thick clothing would lead to overheating, especially on hot Singapore days.

Also look out for costumes with small, loose objects like buttons and bells. Never let your furbaby chew on something they shouldn’t. And don’t furget: no fairy lights, no glitter, and no glow sticks.

Your pets may look good, but they ought to feel good too

Doggos are expressive creatures. They show their emotions through facial expressions and movement. That’s why instead of wearing a mask, you could get them hats! Cattos are also extremely sensitive to clothes and accessories. Some cats especially might freeze and fall over, and even try to shake the clothes off in a panic. Alternatively, you could dress your pets up in halloween inspired collars and bandanas.

Looks good, but… Maybe she doesn’t like it.

Getting them used to costumes

You should always let your pawpal try their costume on before the big day. If your pets freeze when you put the costumes on, you could try conditioning them with treats or toys so they know they can move freely in their new outfit. A lot of pawsitive reinforcement is needed so that your pet warms up to wearing accessories and costumes. You could also wear your costume around them too!

Let’s have a safe and fun halloween everyone ???

How to Safely Sleep with Your Dog

This article has been written by Luke Strauss from Siege Media.

Let’s face it – we all love snuggling with our pups. There’s nothing better than some quality time with our favorite animals after a long day. We know that sleeping with dogs makes us happy, but what about our physical safety, as well as our dogs’? Is it safe to be sharing a bed with your pup?

Most of the time, the answer is yes. However, safety is highly dependent on the pet owner’s good judgment and willingness to take some precautions. In order to make sleeping with your dog safer for all parties involved, we’ve curated a comprehensive guide to safely sleeping with dogs.

4 Safety Tips for Sleeping with Dogs

There are a few things you should consider before snuggling in bed with your pup. Here are 4 tips that will keep you and your dog happy and healthy when sharing a bed.

  1. Keep a Safe Distance

It can be tempting to snuggle up super close to your dog at night, but it’s best to keep a little space between you and your hound. This is because dogs can easily startle during the night causing their sharp claws or teeth to wake you and potentially injure you.

  1. Wash Your Sheets Often

This is a given. Dogs can be messy and tend to carry germs. If you don’t already do so, get into the habit of washing your sheets weekly with sanitizing laundry detergent if your dog shares a bed with you.

  1. Make Regular Visits to the Vet

You should schedule frequent appointments with the vet if your dog sleeps in bed with you. The increased contact between you and your dog means there’s a greater chance of them passing over fleas and diseases. The vet may even offer products that decrease the chance of illness.

  1. Take Your Dog for a Walk Before Bed

Walks help dogs get their energy out and feel tired at the end of the day. If they are still energetic at bedtime, they will likely be restless during the night and may interrupt your sleep.

Great Dog Breeds for Cuddling

While no dog breed makes a terrible sleep companion, there are particular breeds that are naturals when it comes to sharing a bed. Here are a few breeds that are known for sleeping a lot and being snuggly when they do.

Bulldog

Bulldogs are calm and quiet dogs that love their rest. They are known for sleeping for many hours restfully, making them great companions for bedtime.

Pitbull

Pitbulls are some of the sweetest dogs out there. They love their sleep and are natural protectors, helping you feel extra safe as you drift into sleep.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

This small breed loves to cuddle. They are quiet and take up little space in the bed, making them a wonderful bedtime companion.

Pug

Pugs are an adorable bedtime companion. They love their sleep, so they are great for people who enjoy sleeping in. They are also small and take up minimal space in the bed.

Bernese Mountain Dog

These gentle giants are soft and fluffy snugglers. As long as they get sufficient exercise during the day, they will be happy to cuddle with you all night long.

Common Myths About Sleeping with Dogs

There are many rumors about dogs who sleep in bed with their owners. We addressed these rumors to put them to rest.

“Sharing a Bed With Your Dog Causes Behavioural Problems”

Allowing your pets onto the bed does not cause behavioural problems. Certain animals may react negatively out of fear, but the bed itself isn’t the problem. Make sure your dog is happy and comfortable on the bed before allowing them to sleep with you.

“It’s Harmful to Sleep With Your Dog”

People often think that allowing your dog in your bed will give them newfound dominance causing them to become aggressive with you. This theory has been disproven. It’s important to remember that dogs are domesticated animals and shouldn’t be compared to wolves.

“Children Shouldn’t Sleep With Dogs”

While it’s wise to be wary before allowing children under 6 years old to share a bed with their dog, if a dog is never aggressive with your children, there is no problem with them bed-sharing. That said, a dog should never be allowed to bed-share with a baby due to babies’ fragility and compromised immune systems.

“Sleeping With Your Dog is Inevitably Messy”

It’s a common belief that you shouldn’t allow a dog into your bed because they will cause illness. In reality, humans rarely ever contract diseases from dogs. That said, it’s still important to follow hygienic practices when bed-sharing.

Overall, sleeping with your pup is a beneficial experience for all parties involved, as long as you take a few healthy precautions. If you enjoyed the tips above and are interested in learning more about sleeping with dogs, check out Tommy John’s infographic below.

How to Find Your Lost Cat

This article was written by Lauretta Williams, co-founder of Pawmaw.com.

Finding a lost cat is a difficult thing, but not impossible. Before you start producing placards
and knocking on neighbours’ doors, start your search at home.

You’ve probably come to this page because you can’t find your pet. First and foremost, do
not be alarmed. There’s a strong probability your cat is still around and will show up again
soon. Moreover, 15% of cat owners lose them in the first 5 years, according to PubMed.

Your cat is nowhere within the house? They either got outside when you opened the door
and you didn’t notice, or they opened a window or located an exit and are now outside.

If you were lucky enough to see him or her flee, you might have some idea of where they
could be. However, how can you locate a lost cat if you’ve no idea where they went?

Photo by Mitchell Orr on Unsplash

How to Locate a Missing Cat

Finding a missing cat is tricky, but coaxing them back into the house could be much more
difficult. Your cat may prefer to remain in their hiding place but here are some actionable tips
on how to find your cat.

1. Tempt your cat with their favourite meal

Owners should use food to entice their cats out, according to Albrecht. You can even put
food just inside the door and then close it when your cat returns.

If the cat returns at night, you might consider providing food and water outside the house.

2. Search around your home

Cats usually hide behind porches, cars, or other things in the vicinity of their houses. In
reality, 75% of the cats were discovered within 500 meters, or a third of a mile, of their
escape site.

18% were hiding right outside their house’s front door. There is a distinction in behaviour
between indoor cats and cats who have regular access to the outdoors.

75% of the latter travelled up to nearly a mile from home, possibly because they feel more
comfortable outside.

3. Create eye-catching posters for awareness

Post large and eye-catching posters around the neighbourhood. For example, use bright
coloured paper with your lost pet’s information. Post information about your missing pet on
social media platforms and lost pet sites such as Pawmaw, Facebook, Nextdoor.com, and
PetAmberAlert.com.

4. Construct a trap

Set up humane traps in areas where you can check them frequently; animal shelters
frequently rent out these traps to the general public.

By leaving doors open, you can utilize your house or garage as a trap. Check out all of the
shelters in your area, not just the ones closest to you.

5. Submit a help request

Enlist the assistance of friends, neighbors, or a professional missing cat locator. Anyone
looking for the cat should be warned that if they find them, they should stay calm and not
chase them! It’s better if the cat’s owner approaches them, especially since the cat is likely to
be terrified.

Exchange mobile phone numbers with everyone involved in the search, and make sure
everyone has a flashlight, even if it’s daytime.

6. Look for warm spots

Your cat may become trapped behind a heating appliance, crawl into a heating vent, or even
jump it onto the engine of a car from underneath if the weather is chilly.

7. Keep an eye out in case your cat returns

Over the next few days, Look around the inside as well. Your cat could become trapped or injured beneath furniture,
in a closed room or closet, or in an attic or basement that you rarely visit.

It could just be hiding, especially if your house or area is currently filled with loud,
unexpected noises.

Recliner chairs, beds or mattress boxes, the chimney, dresser drawers, tangled draperies,
behind books in such a bookcase, behind access panels, or appliances are all good places
to look.

How do you keep a cat from fleeing?

Hopefully, with the help of these tips, you were able to locate your cat. What can you do now
to keep your cat from fleeing and disappearing again?

Here’s how to keep from having another nightmare:

  • With a GPS cat tracker, you can keep an eye on your cat in real-time and create safe
  • zones to receive alerts if they leave their typical territory.
  • Make a safe haven for your cat.
  • Make every effort to keep your cat entertained and happy at home.
  • To prevent your cats from fleeing owing to their intense mating instinct, spay or
  • neuter them.
  • Make sure your cat is microchipped or wears a collar with an ID tag so you can easily reunite if he or she finds up at a shelter.

Wrapping up

Don’t give up on your missing cat, whatever the reason for their disappearance may be.
Some cats can be gone for days, weeks, or even months before returning home.

If you require professional assistance, you may always contact a pet detective to assist you
in your quest. The good news is that according to studies, approximately 74% of missing
cats are eventually reunited with their families.

So, until your feline companions are back in your arms, try to remain calm and positive.

We interviewed MK, Studio Kinu’s founder, and main photographer to find out more about their business. We also reached out to you! (Pawjourr community) for some questions.

Interview with MK of Studio Kinu

@promisethedoggie: What inspired you to start this business?

I started my photography journey as a wedding photographer when I was 18. I truly enjoy photographing my clients and it means so much to me that they’d entrust me to capture their big day. However, as most wedding ceremonies are often held over the weekends, it meant that taking more jobs = burning away my weekends.

After meeting my life partner and having our dogs, weekends are so much more precious to me. I started to think of ways that I can still do what I am passionate about, while at the same time spending time with my loved ones. Thus, the idea of a studio came to life! People and animals are the inspiration for the name of our studio – KINU, a mashup of KIN (relationships) + INU (dogs).

Indeed, the photos produced at Studio Kinu do bring out the best in our relationships. In fact, they appear to carry a strong aura of nostalgia and family. Perhaps it is the bright cool-toned temperature of their pictures that appear as though it has been pulled out of your memory or all too familiar sofa sets that you can find in your grandparent’s home; Studio Kinu’s photoshoots emphasise on capturing the smiles you share with the people you love.

As mentioned, their photos are not constrained to the human business, as they offer photoshoot packages that accommodate your pets as well. That way you can capture precious moments shared with your animals too!

Jane, Tay and Oolong had such great fun at Studio Kinu. Oolong posed well for the camera, all thanks to the accommodating nature of the studio!

Accommodating Your Pets

@zorro_tales and @theobislife: How does your studio work to accommodate the needs of our pets?

Before the photoshoot, we usually communicate with the owners to let their pets pee and poop before coming up. We take some time to let the pets familiarise themselves with us, and when the photoshoot starts, we have squeakers and treats to help capture the attention of your pet!

Credit: https://www.instagram.com/two.littlefloofs/

@nickyfats: Do you have photoshoot opportunities for cats too?

Yes of course! We have done photoshoots for cats and even rabbits before too! All sessions welcome cats!

Pricing

Excited? So are we! We also began inquiring about the packages Studio Kinu had in store.

Credit: https://www.instagram.com/the.milktea.cino/

@mimi_de_corgi: Do you have any trial packages?

Our mini sessions are the perfect trial packages for anyone who is keen to try out studio photoshoots! It is a short 20 mins session, perfect for those with young babies or a family with grandparents and daddies that aren’t as keen to be in photos.

@harley.pomsky1008: Do they have outdoor and indoor packages?

Yes, we do! Please check out our rate card (linked below!) which includes our studio packages, as well as outdoor packages.

Emma and Toto on studiokinu.com

@iamcookiebae: How much does it cost per photoshoot?

It depends! For studio shoots, we have 3 packages. Mini session $288, Classic session $428, Deluxe session $628. (Full rate card down below!)

@loudtwinklebaby: In lieu of the COVID-19 restrictions, how many people (and pets!) are allowed for a single photoshoot?

According to IMDA, up to 10 pax can appear in a photo unmasked and the studio can have up to 15 pax.

Graduation Shoots?

One thing that stood out the most to us is the studio’s potential for graduation photos! In lieu of the recent pandemic, many of our recent graduates are unable to attend live ceremonies to celebrate their achievements. Hence, graduate photoshoots are in high demand as it helps them commemorate this significant milestone.

The most standard graduation studio shot likely involves a green screen or a giant fake image as your backdrop. However, with Studio Kinu styled sets, your pictures will definitely stand out. However, if you do prefer solid colour backdrops- this option is still available!

Quote ‘PAWJOURR15’ when booking for 15% discount on both indoor and outdoor shoots.

Jr. Wong Boyboy is an adorable Shih Tzu dog who currently has over 1k followers on Instagram.

Interview with Jr.Boyboy

Hi there! I would love to know more about Jr’s mealtime habits. What would you consider your top concerns regarding Jr’s diet?

Jr usually has home-cooked food for his meals, boiled meat with vegetables (with the broth/soup because he doesn’t drink often from his water bowl hahaha).

Luckily, he doesn’t really have any preference because he is very food driven! My top concerns are mostly centred around his meat allergies because his skin is very sensitive.

Alongside his meals, there are supplements we add on such as glucosamine & coconut oil with his breakfast and fish oil, vitamin E, and rosehip with dinner.

How did you first hear about Bronco Pâté and what drew you to acquire said product?

I first heard of it through TWA/Pawjourr and it interested me because of the ingredient list. I liked that the pates have limited ingredients because many other affordable wet food brands contain unhealthy components such as salt, baking soda, etc.

Some even have vague terms like “meat flavour” which usually contains chicken.

What was your impression of Bronco Pâté?

Aside from the beneficial ingredients, I like that the portion is just right for Jr because I prefer to purchase wet food in smaller packaging since he doesn’t eat wet foods often.

The design is also simple yet effective, the colours and visuals complement each other.

How did Jr take to Bronco Pâté?

Jr loved it when he first had it! Hahaha he gets very excited about wet food.

How does Bronco Pâté help to address the concerns you had for Jr?

I like that the ingredient list contains the specific proteins so, I need not worry about triggering his skin.

We understand that you have since converted to Bronco Pâté. How has Jr improved since feeding Bronco Pâté?

Jr still gets very excited when we feed him Bronco on the weekends as ‘fast food’, haha! He runs after us when we take out the pates and scarfs down the entire bowl.

Would you recommend this product to pet owners? Why or why not?

Yes! I would recommend this to other pet owners because it is a healthier alternative to other brands that contain vague and/or unhealthy ingredients. It is convenient and affordable, especially for small dogs.

For bigger dogs, I’d suggest for them to get the canned versions since it has more.

I Tried out Naturvet Tear Stains Supplements for a Week! – Suitable for Cats and Dogs

What are Tear Stains?

Tear Stains are dark brown or reddish marks that can appear under your pet’s eyes. It can affect both dogs and cats and are usually more prominent on animals with light coloured fur. According to Dogtime, Epiphora, a condition that comes from excessive tear production or the inability to properly drain tears, is usually the source of the stains.

My cat, Sir Nicky, is an exotic shorthair cat who requires regular grooming on account of his tear stains. His tear ducts generate a brownish discharge after a nap, which tends to stick to his fur resulting in stains.

This is how he looks on the daily (without grooming). As you can see, there is discharge most prominently seen in the inner corner of his eyes. For discharge located near his eyelids, it is difficult to clean without irritating him.

This is him after heavy grooming. As you can tell, the stains still remain after cleaning, and a new discharge has already occurred.

Naturvet Tear Stains Supplement for Cats and Dogs

For his comfort (and my ease), I decided to try out Naturvet Tear Stains supplement. These specially formulated soft chews are aimed at reducing unsightly tear stains from the inside out. It supposedly assists our pet’s immune system and lubricates mucous membranes to reduce discharge. One tub consists of 70 chews, which should last an average user around 30 days.

My cat weighs an average of 4 kilograms, so I followed the instructions carefully. For an animal his size, it is recommended that they take 1 chew a day, til visible improvement is noted. Afterwards, continue to use after an additional 30 days, to hone in the supplement’s effectiveness.

On the tub’s cover, a sticker notes it as Veterinary approved and recommended.

The soft chew itself is brown, with a rather crumbly residue. It remains solid when picked up and is roughly the size of my fingernail.

I wasn’t so sure if he would take well to these supplements hence I decided to mix them into his regular food. Sir Nicky is fed a regular diet of Schesir wet canned food and Wishbone kibble. The chew itself is easy to crumble. He finished his meal without any issue, indicating that the addition of the supplements did not bother him or was tasty to eat!

Our Weekly Trial

The next day I checked out his discharge in the morning.

Not sure if I could note any visible improvements yet I decided to continually feed him the supplements for a week.

At one point, I tried to mix things up and feed him the chew on its own. Though he responded well to it, I think he found the chew’s soft texture rather hard to grip with his teeth. The result? Crumbs scattered all over on my freshly mopped floors.

Unless your pet would be able to chew and grip the supplement on their own, I’d recommend crumbling it up into their daily meals for a cleaner and fuss-free feeding experience!

5th day after eating supplements. The discharge has improved slightly. I also noticed that throughout the day, he has little or no discharge. I found myself needed to clean him a lot less.

However, I did note that Sir Nicky began to lose interest in the supplements midway through the week. In order to convince him to eat it, I covered the supplement in his favourite cream-based snack. For dog owners, I’d recommend finding something similar– perhaps some dog-friendly peanut butter, if it is suitable for your pet.

After a week of supplements, here is how he looked:

Yes, this is the same cat!

(Apologies for the over-exposure in the 2nd picture, Sir Nicky isn’t the most compliant paw-del)

Most notable improvements

  • Daily discharge is runnier and easier to clean
  • Fewer stains on his fur
  • Discharge is greatly reduced throughout the day

Overall Thoughts

In conclusion, I think the product does work. I definitely saw improvements after only a week of use. Though Sir Nicky grew to dislike it after some time, I think that might just be a matter of personal preference. It wasn’t difficult for me to mask the supplement in other tastier snacks he enjoyed in order to convince him to eat it.

I am most impressed by the product’s ability to reduce tear stain discharge throughout the day. Though he would still accumulate some discharge overnight, the reduced amount of tears throughout the day helped time as I no longer had to groom him as frequently. Plus, it also kept him looking handsome and clean all day long!
